Former All-Pros and up and coming NFL stars to be honored at annual induction ceremony in May

MOBILE, Alabama – The Senior Bowl today announced it will induct five new members into the game’s Hall of Fame — former New Orleans Saints offensive lineman Terron Armstead (2013), former Cincinnati Bengals defensive lineman and Senior Bowl 75th Anniversary Team Member Geno Atkins (2010), former Las Vegas Raiders and Tampa Bay Buccaneers Head Coach Jon Gruden (most recent Senior Bowl head coach in 2019), former Atlanta Falcons center Alex Mack (2009), and former Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman (2011). The game’s Rookies of the Year are Los Angeles Rams defensive lineman Braden Fiske (Defensive Rookie of the Year), Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey (Co-Offensive Rookie of the Year), and Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix (Co-Offensive Rookie of the Year). The inductees and rookies of the year will be honored at the annual induction ceremony at The Grand Hotel Golf Club & Spa in Point Clear, Alabama on Sunday, May 4, 2025.

In conjunction with the Hall of Fame festivities, the Senior Bowl is hosting its Fifth Annual Senior Bowl Charities Celebrity Golf Classic, which will be held on Monday, May 5, at Lakewood Golf Club. This exclusive event will pair over 20 foursomes with celebrities from across the football world, including the five current Senior Bowl Hall of Fame inductees and Rookies of the Year. Proceeds from the golf tournament will directly benefit the Senior Bowl’s Mobile Baldwin Athletic Partnership, which provides needed resources, ranging from pants and jerseys to blocking sleds and video technology, for underfunded public high school football programs in the two-county area.

“We are thrilled to welcome each member of the 2025 Senior Bowl Hall of Fame back to the Mobile area, where their remarkable careers began,” said Mobile Arts & Sports Association President Scott Cooper. “It is truly an honor to celebrate the achievements of outstanding Senior Bowl alums year after year. This year’s class is especially unique, and we are grateful that the Senior Bowl played a pivotal role in launching their journeys.”

The Senior Bowl Hall of Fame, established in 1988, includes many players who are also members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.  Past honorees are all-time greats such as Doak Walker, Ray Nitschke, Joe Namath, Mean Joe Green, Walter Payton, Franco Harris, Ozzie Newsome, Steve Largent, Kellen Winslow, Dan Marino, Bo Jackson, Derrick Thomas, Terrell Owens, Patrick Willis, and Von Miller.  In addition, Paul Brown, Don Shula, Tom Landry, Paul “Bear” Bryant, Eddie Robinson, and now Jon Gruden, are among the list of inducted legendary pro and college coaches.

Statement from former New Orleans Saints OL Terron Armstead:

“Coming from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, every step of the pre-draft process was extremely important for me. I came straight from the East West Shrine Game and the Senior Bowl was the final stamp of validity I felt that I needed. The opportunity to compete with the best of the best coming out of college gave me the eyes and exposure I needed, and the confidence, as well. I am forever grateful for the opportunity to showcase my abilities as a young man, and I am truly honored to be inducted into the Senior Bowl Hall of Fame alongside these greats of this class.”

Statement from former Cincinnati Bengals DL Geno Atkins:

“I would like to begin by expressing my deepest gratitude to the Senior Bowl Committee for the incredible honor of being inducted into the Hall of Fame. Playing in the Senior Bowl was a pivotal moment in my development as a professional athlete. It provided me with the invaluable opportunity to compete against some of the best talent in the game and gave me a glimpse of the NFL experience, all while being coached by NFL-level staff. I am forever grateful for that experience and the impact It had on my career.”

Statement from former Las Vegas Raiders and Tampa Bay Buccaneers Head Coach Jon Gruden:

“It’s an honor to be selected to the Senior Bowl Hall of Fame. I took great pride in coaching the game and attending the game for many years. This was by far the best evaluation tool we had to prepare for our drafts. The game features hard-nosed players that are serious about their careers. We drafted several good ones over my career.”

Statement from former Atlanta Falcons OL Alex Mack:

“I really enjoyed my time at the Senior Bowl and really think it helped cement my draft position. Having the chance to compete against the other best prospects all week is a great way to showcase your skill. It is a stressful week because every practice feels like game day. I feel like the stress and the challenge is what made it feel so worthwhile. I was able to show how I could compete with the best, while learning a new offense and working with new people – all the things it takes to succeed on an NFL roster. I also had the chance to switch up positions for the first time since high school and show game tape of myself playing guard. Lastly, I would tell any prospect that teams love guys who love football, so it is a great chance to be around NFL coaches and showcase that you have a great attitude and that you are willing to learn new techniques and compete.”

Statement from former CB Richard Sherman:

“To be invited to the Senior Bowl was an incredible honor and it gave me an opportunity to showcase my talent against some of the best in the nation. Being in that environment helped me elevate my game and get an invite to the combine. I’m forever grateful for the Senior Bowl because it helped shape career in a positive way.”
