Jim Nagy named new Executive Director of RSB

MOBILE, Ala. (May 29) – Angus Cooper, Chairman of the Mobile Arts & Sports Association, announced today the hiring of Jim Nagy as Executive Director of the Reese’s Senior Bowl. 

Nagy has been the Southeast Area Scout for the Seattle Seahawks for the past five years and has been an NFL scout for nearly two decades.

He will be introduced at a press conference on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Reese’s Senior Bowl headquarters, located at 151 Dauphin St. in downtown Mobile.

“Jim is a proven and respected 18-year NFL scouting veteran with long-standing relationships across the league, among college coaches nationwide, and with certified player agents,” Cooper said. “His positive leadership skills acquired under legendary coaches like Bill Belichick and Pete Carroll will be a huge asset to the Reese’s Senior Bowl. 

“Jim has excellent interpersonal skills required to establish trusted contacts at universities and across the agent community and has a strong team, goal and action-oriented approach he developed at the most competitive level of football,” Cooper added.

Nagy was part of teams that appeared in six Super Bowls, including four winners (Green Bay Packers XXXI, New England Patriots XXXVIII, New England Patriots XXXIX, and Seattle Seahawks XLVIII).

“I am extremely humbled to be the new Executive Director of the Reese’s Senior Bowl,” Nagy said. “I view this position as a stewardship to the City of Mobile, my family’s home the past 11 years, and the National Football League and I will bring great passion to both roles.

“The Reese’s Senior Bowl has been the preeminent college all-star game for the past 68 years and our staff will strive to improve the event for the National Football League and the local Mobile community on a yearly basis.” 

Nagy has been a West Coast Area Scout for the Washington Redskins, a Midwest Area Scout for the New England Patriots and National Scout for the Kansas City Chiefs before joining the Seahawks organization in 2013. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Management & Communications from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor in 1996. 

“I would like to thank Mr. Angus Cooper II, President of the Mobile Arts and Sports Association, and the Reese’s Senior Bowl executive board for entrusting me with this position, as well as the Seattle Seahawks organization for allowing me to pursue this unique opportunity,” Nagy said. “I’d like to thank my wife, Lindsay, my two children, Hayden and Lillian, and our parents for being so supportive throughout the successes and challenges of life in the NFL. Lastly, I will be always be indebted to the great men in the scouting profession, especially the two individuals that I spent my entire 18-year career in the NFL working and learning under, John Schneider and Scott Pioli.”

Cooper also announced that Sylvester Croom will be joining the Senior Bowl staff as Senior Vice President of Operations.  Croom is a former head football coach at Mississippi State University and has close ties with the National Football League after spending nearly 25 years as an assistant coach in the NFL.

“We are excited to welcome Jim and Sylvester to the Senior Bowl family,” Cooper said.
