Three qualities NFL wants in a Safety
![]() |
When NFL scouts look at the safety position, they are looking for three qualities in these college players trying to make the transition to pro football.
1. INSTINCTS: They are going to look at his ability to read run/pass and to go make a play on the football in the run game and the pass game.
2. TACKLING ABILITY: Does he bring a physical mentality to the game?
3. RANGE AND MAN-TO-MAN COVERAGE ABILITY: Can he play the football in the air and now-a-days, against all the 3-4 wide receiver sets teams are going to, does have the ability to play man-to-man coverage?
