Senior Bowl to Distribute One Thousand Turkeys at 5th Annual Turkey Bowl at Hancock Whitney Stadium
First-Come/First-Serve Food Distribution Starts at 1 p.m.
“The Turkey Bowl is something we look forward to every year because it pulls together everything that makes the Thanksgiving holiday so special—family, football, and food. The turkey distribution is the most important aspect of the day because there are so many families in our community that need assistance around the holidays,” says Senior Bowl Executive Director Jim Nagy. “And then giving hundreds of kids the unique experience of playing in the same stadium where NFL stars from the Senior Bowl play is also very special. We are truly grateful for the continued support of our partners – Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama, Greer’s Markets, and Feeding the Gulf Coast.”
“Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama is proud to support the 2024 Turkey Bowl,” said Sophie Martin, Director, Corporate Communications and Community Relations. “We believe in giving back to the communities we serve and supporting events that encourage active, healthy lifestyles.”
“Feeding the Gulf Coast is committed to providing nutritious food year-round, but we recognize that the holiday season is particularly challenging for families who face the harsh reality of a Thanksgiving without a meal on the table,” says Michael Ledger, President and CEO of Feeding the Gulf Coast. “Thanksgiving is meant to be a time of gathering, celebration, and gratitude, yet many in our community are burdened by the challenges of food insecurity. We are incredibly thankful to community partners like Reese’s Senior Bowl, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama, and Greer’s Markets for helping us ensure that those in need can share a warm, hearty meal this Thanksgiving.”
The Reese’s Senior Bowl is widely regarded as the preeminent college football all-star game and the first stage in the NFL Draft process. The longest continual-running all-star game has taken place in Mobile, Alabama the past 75 years. More than 900 NFL personnel, including key decision-makers from all 32 teams, and over 1100 media members from around the country were credentialed this year. This past April, the game produced 110 total picks, representing 43 percent of the entire NFL draft.
